Benefits of receiving Digest

From: gwendontoo (foxsecurity@earthlink.net) | Date: 2005-05-28 18:16:44 UTC
One of the benefits of receiving the list in digest form is you get to
see the complete address of those that send in posts. At first I
couldn't figure out why so many folks replied to the NPS posting from
a new member, Difficult Run, that had posted from yahoo.co.uk. I'm
sure that my sarcastic comment at the end of my post was totally lost
on everyone except those that get the digest or the poster himself.
The best reason to get the digest is that you get to reply calmly and
consider thoughts before posting.

I use the Mike Tyson rule. I post as if I'm talking to Mike Tyson and
he is within arms reach. Step over the line and he will rip my head
clean off and put it where the sun don't shine.

Ahhh! That's the point!
Using inflammatory language in a discourse serves no useful purpose.
If you can put forth a reasonable point of view, and if the other
person then cannot comprehend and then resorts to flaming then they
tend to show their own intellect.
Case in point: If I said "Mike Tyson you are too stupid to understand"
he would get upset. Alternatively if I were to say "Mike Tyson can you
comprehend this written text?" there would be less likelyhood that he
would punch my lights out. The meaning can be there, but the way it is
received can be quite different, and the reaction back would be quite
different as well.

of course, it is also quite amusing to insult someone and watch for
comprehension, which never comes, and then insult them again, and watch for
comprehension, which never comes ....... but, then, you come to realize that
there's not much sport in shooting at a sitting target, and so you just move
on.

Do you rwally think he would know the difference?
Without having to spell it out phonetically? And then
having to explain why he should be mad at what he just
read.

Too much work. Tell it like it is. You always get
alot farther whe someone knows exactly where they
stand with you.
